Kaysha Bowler is a sound and light artist, researcher and technologist from Wellington, New Zealand. An inaugural graduate of Music Technology from Massey University’s College of Creative Arts, she is interested in developing embodied technologies for audiovisual interaction. Kaysha’s current interest is toward designing systems that explore the relationship between sound, space and light, with a focus toward the physicality of these mediums within performance.
In January 2018, Kaysha went on the road as the lighting designer for Neil and Liam Finn’s “Where’s My Room?” Tour of New Zealand. Her time on tour inspired her recent creative works, which has manifested in designing interfaces (such as plex) that attempt to encourage musicians to integrate visual manipulation into their live performances. From this work, she aspires to challenge perceptions of space with the mediums of light and sound, through her experimentation with current and emergent technologies.
